Equity Firm Completes CKE Buyout
Columbia Lake Acquisition Holdings, an affiliate of Apollo Management VII LP, has completed its estimated $694 million acquisition of CKE Restaurants, Inc., which runs the Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s fast food chains. CKE operates and franchises 3,141 restaurants in 42 states. Source: Business Week

Retailers Overstate Opt-out Timing

Less than half of online retailers inform consumers of how long fulfilling an unsubscribe request will take, and those that do typically overstate the length of time, according to a new report from Responsys.

Dunkin’ Donuts Pilots Value Menu
Coffee retailer Dunkin’ Donuts is piloting a new value menu in the Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and South Bend, IN markets. Six items, including three egg-and-cheese wrap sandwiches, a coffee roll, nine-piece hash browns and five munchkin mini-donuts, will be available for 99 cents each in 22 stores. More Retailers Send Emails after Unsubscribe Request

While the percentage of online retailers failing to honor unsubscribe requests has held steady, more retailers are sending a higher number of emails following those requests. According to a new report from Responsys, 4% of retail email unsubscribe requests failed in 2010.

Identity Fraud Hits 11M US Adults

The number of identity fraud victims in the US rose 12% between 2008 and 2009, according to the 2010 Identity Fraud Survey Report from Javelin Strategy & Research.

In 2009, 11.1 million US adults were victimized by identity fraud, compared to 9.9 million in 2008. As a percentage of the population, 4.8% of US adults were identity fraud victims, up from 4.3% in 2008.
