eBay Snaps Up Bill Me Later, Cuts 1000 Employees

Nearly 17 million searches were conducted for the term “ebay” in August, according to data from 58 representative search engines tracked by Nielsen Online, writes Internet Retailer.

Computers & Electronics: GameStop Wins, eBay Loses
The number of August unique visitors to GameStop.com jumped 57% from a year ago, making it the fastest growing destination in the computers and consumer electronics category, according to Nielsen Online, writes Internet Retailer.
Traffic for eBay’s Electronics and Computers sites in the category, however, fell by 19% and 20%, respectively. Both sites also fell about 20% in July as well.

eBay Dissolves Paper Payments
Beginning late next month, eBay will no longer accept money orders and checks for online purchases, reports Internet Retailer.

Indie Musicians, Labels Distribute MP3s on Amazon.com
Amazon MP3, which offers 6.1 million songs from major music labels EMI, Universal, Warner, and Sony BMG, among others, has now made it easier for independent musicians and labels to distribute their work.
